Lewis Capaldi Glasgow show sells out in 'second' as fans complain of 30,000-strong queue

After announcing his UK and Europe tour last week, tickets for Lewis Capaldi went on sale today - and proved exceptionally popular.

For the Glasgow gig, thousands have been in the online queue for tickets with many left disappointed. Taking to social media, fans said tens of thousands of people were waiting to make a purchase.

By 9.20am, Lewis took to Twitter to say: “Entire UK tour sold out in a single second at 9am, completely lost for words thank you all so so so much.”

While many have asked for an extra Glasgow date, the singer has confirmed this won’t be happening. He posted a screenshot from his notes app which reads: “Hello thought I’d also just say before these go on sale that there won’t be any extra dates for any cities.

“I really wish I could but I’m just one small chubby human who has to try to get to see as many of you all over the world as possible.”

Many took to social media to express their sadness at not snapping up a ticket. One Twitter user posted: “Have a 14-year-old whose saved up for this, sadly lots of people buying tickets and reselling to make profit.”

Another added: “Just tried to get tickets for Glasgow, it said there’s 31291 people in front of me. I’m just off the night shift and too tired for that, just need to hope you announce another date.”

In agreement, one said: “Gutted. Waited with over 24,000 people in front of me and nothing. Can you not do more dates in Glasgow? Pleaaaaaase.”

The sheer number of Tweets suggests Glaswegians are desperate for a second date, regardless of when that comes. One wrote: “I’m begging u on my knees do Scotland a solid and add another Glasgow date, not even January like anytime.”

While it’s clear that a second Glasgow gig won’t be happening for this tour, the support from his Scottish fans shows he’ll be selling out concerts for a while now.
