Lewis Capaldi busks on Buchanan Street and surprises passing Glaswegians

Lewis Capaldi surprised Glaswegians with performance on Buchanan Street this afternoon (September 14) and it wasn't long before people gathered around to listen to the much-loved singer.

Taking to the city centre in the glorious sunshine, Lewis went live on Instagram before appearing from an alleyway located next to Nespresso.

The 25-year-old singer and songwriter has just released a new single titled Forget Me.

Today's surprise show follows an impromptu performance at an open mic night at Sauchiehall Street venue Box on Tuesday (September 13) with Lewis even buying drinks for the whole bar.

The Scottish crooner performed a few of his classics including Before You Go as crowds cheered on the singer.

Speaking to the crowds, who began gathering in their hundreds, Capaldi joked: "I'm not actually Lewis Capaldi, I'm just a really good impersonator.

"Thanks for stopping. This is in no way set up, we didn't tell them we were gonna be here at all," as he pointed to people with professional cameras snapping away.

He continued: "I've got a new single out. The Queen died this week, dunno if anyone has found out about that...not a great week to release a single. There's not much promo you can do after that's happened.

"So that's us, we're here and we're making it happen. Thank you for watching me."

Later bursting into laugher after messing up his song, he joked: "Also realised nobody's given me any money yet. What the f*** is this? Tight b****** the lot of you," as the crowd cheered - and one woman even stepped forward to put down some change.
