Lewis Capaldi ‘an absolute delight’ as he headed out for seafood pasta at Manchester favourite

Lewis Capaldi was in Manchester last night, and while last time he was here he went out for pizza, this time, he plumped for pasta. Ahead of his show at the AO Arena, the Scots singer rocked up with his entourage at the nearby Italian Salvi’s.

Doubtless attracted to the place thanks to his Italian ancestry, the singer scarfed down seafood pasta and was generally genial to all around him at the Corn Exchange location.

The restaurant tweeted out a snap of its famous patron, adding ‘we hope you think of us every time you ‘take her out to fancy restaurants’, noting the lyrics to his song Pointless.

The restaurant’s owners told the Manchester Evening News: “Lewis was an absolute delight to host this week, and it was a pleasure to have him here at Salvi's Mozzarella Bar at the Corn Exchange.

“We know he has Italian roots, so he came to the right place for an authentic meal and enjoyed our crowd-favourite seafood classic Pasta Mare. He and his friends were the dream customers; so polite, friendly and had fun with our staff, exactly as you would expect.

"We thought he might have been a bit starstruck by the Manchester legends within the Salvi’s team, but he just about managed to keep it in check! We'd love to tell him to come back again soon because, as his latest song says: everything is pointless without you!”

The gig itself was a bit more dramatic than his dinner, however. Half way through, the Glasgow-born singer had to alert security to 'a scrap' going on between a number of people in the crowd, after which a woman was removed from the arena by security.

A witness who watched the incident unfold said the woman appeared to take a swipe at one of the security guards and was refusing to move away from the area. The fight was soon resolved, however, and the show continued.

Capaldi was last in Manchester back in September, on the publicity trail for his last single Forget Me. He headed straight for Nell’s New York Pizza and Bar, where he took full advantage of the restaurant’s vast 22-inch New York-style pies. Capaldi went for the quirkily-titled Do You 'Roni Honey, which is covered in pepperoni and slathered in hot honey.
