Levi Colwill makes Huddersfield Town transfer admission ahead of big Chelsea decision

Chelsea loanee Levi Colwill has admitted that he would be open to returning to Huddersfield Town next season should the opportunity arise.

The 19-year-old defender played 29 times for the Terriers in the Championship, and is likely to feature in the play-off final against Nottingham Forest on Sunday. With Chelsea losing both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, there is more than a case for Tuchel to recall Colwill for next season.

football.london understands that there is significant interest from numerous Premier League clubs in Colwill ahead of the summer transfer window. Chelsea won't want a repeat of what's happened with the likes of Fikayo Tomori and Marc Guehi, so a return isn't unimaginable to say the least.

Nevertheless, the youngster has admitted that he would be willing to re-join Huddersfield if the chance presents itself. Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, he said: "There’s too much respect for me to close the door. We need to get promotion first, which is the only thing I’m thinking of right now.

"I’m not planning for next year, all I can focus on right now is Wembley on Sunday and then the internationals after that. After when I’ve finished all of that, well that’s when I’ll start thinking about that.

"For me, playing for Chelsea will always be the main aim right now because it’s my club. But if that doesn’t happen, well then I have to find other ways to progress and become the player I want to be."

The play-off final is expected to be a big day for Colwill and his family, with around 50 family and friends expected to be in attendance. Whether he can help Huddersfield secure promotion is another question, but he'll be doing his very best to make sure that happens.
