Andros Townsend came in for plenty of praise this afternoon for his role co-commentating on the lunchtime World Cup offering.
The Everton winger joined Seb Hutchinson at the Education City Stadium for ITV's live coverage of Poland vs Saudi Arabia. The Group C clash carried with it plenty of promise as Herve Renard's Saudi team looked to reach the knockout stages with a win after Tuesday's incredible win against Argentina, but they ultimately fell short as Poland ran out 2-0 winners.
Townsend has been enjoying media duties for some time since suffering an ACL injury back in March, appearing often on TalkSPORT and Sky Sport to share his expert opinion while he recovers. The 31-year-old was presented as a member of ITV's widespread coverage of the tournament in Qatar and has been joining the commentary team throughout the last week.
