Janet Walker remembers Kate Wilson’s beautiful singing voice and I can recall persuading her to join the newly formed Camden Choir in 1971. She turned up to the first rehearsal with her friend Harriet Harman and both voices enhanced the choral sound.
I briefly worked with Kate at Penguin Books in the early 1970s and we became good friends. Her vibrant personality and warmth lit up the office. Her generosity extended to inviting me, together with wife and young family (and my mother!) for a weekend at a family home in West Dean.
Unfortunately, on that occasion her kindness was rewarded with a rather noisy, sickly baby disturbing the peace of that West Sussex idyll.
