Golf star Leona Maguire has thanked social media users for helping her to locate her missing golf bag, which was lost after a flight at Dublin Airport on Sunday ahead of a major tournament.
The Cavan native flew direct from Dublin to Geneva and said her bag went "missing between check-in and take-off." The 27-year-old is competing in the Amundi Evian Championship this week, one of the five Majors on the LPGA tour, which starts on Thursday.
Maguire wrote on Twitter on Monday morning: "Really need help from someone @DublinAirport or DAA. Flew from Dublin to Geneva yesterday direct and somehow my golf bag has gone missing between checkin and takeoff. @FlySWISS & @swissportNews have no idea where it is. Need it urgently for @EvianChamp major this week."

Thankfully, Maguire has now been reunited with her golf bag after a Twitter user replied that his sister, who appears to work at Dublin Airport, had found the missing bag. The sports star, ranked 19th in the world, replied: "Just spoke to a legend called Claire? Found the bag."
This morning, a delighted Maguire confirmed that she now has her golf clubs back in her possession. She tweeted: "Reunited with my babies! Massive thanks to everyone for all the help, Time to play some golf @EvianChamp #backinbusiness."
Dublin Airport Authority has said they have no role in baggage handling as it is the responsibility of individual airlines or their local ground handling agent at the airport. In recent weeks, the issue of unclaimed baggage has affected many airports globally with thousands of lost belongings piling up.
Airlines have also been forced to cancel flights as a result of staff shortages due to Covid-19. A spokesperson for Aer Lingus said that it is aware of disruption related to ongoing issues with lost baggage in recent weeks.
“Aer Lingus is aware of widespread disruption and resource challenges across many airports (most notably London Heathrow, Amsterdam and Paris) and among third party suppliers,” said the spokesperson. These issues are outside of our control but are resulting in some customers experiencing a level of service below what they expect, including delayed baggage at Dublin Airport.”
The airline says that the issue is being caused by bags being transferred from one flight to another or from one airline to another. “Our team on the ground is continuing to work closely with all the relevant handling agents to retrieve delayed or misdirected baggage as quickly and efficiently as possible,” added the spokesperson.

Aer Lingus have also called for customers to log their missing baggage before leaving the airport through their customer service desk or through a self-service kiosk
This will create a missing baggage file, which customers can track here.
“Once a delayed bag is located it will be forwarded to the relevant airport if required and then set up for delivery to the address provided by the customer in their baggage file,” said a spokesperson for Aer Lingus.
