Leona Maguire will have to wait until next year at least for her next win on tour as her 2022 came to an end with a fourth-placed finish in Spain.
Maguire began her day just two shots off the lead ahead of her final round at the Andalucia Open de Espana. A round of 70 on Saturday had the Cavan woman on 12-under par at the beginning of play on Sunday.
The 27-year-old shot a final-round score of 69 to end her tournament with a score of 16-under par and finished in fourth place two shots behind leaders Caroline Hedwall and Morgane Metraux.

Hedwall eventually won in a play-off, with the Swede draining a long-range putt on the first additional hole of play.
Maguire was well placed to make a charge on Sunday after her excellent play over the first three days of action.
The one time winner on the LPGA Tour had a fast start and picked up shots with Birdies on both the third and fourth holes. A series of Pars followed before another birdie on 11 brought Maguire within touching distance of the lead.
Another Birdie followed on 17 but she just ran out of holes and couldn't catch the leaders.
A fourth-placed finish brings to an end another memorable season for Leona Maguire. The 2020 LPGA rookie of the year picked up her first win on tour at the Drive on Championship in February.
Since then Maguire has come close on a number of occasions and has finished second twice. The second of those runner-up finishes came last week, when Maguire just missed on the largest purse in LPGA history.
