Four years after Pret launched its monthly coffee subscription, Leon is getting in on the act with its own version — an offer much the same, but £5 cheaper.
With Pret’s coffee subscription now £30, Leon’s, called “Roast Rewards”, will be £25, and is to include up to five hot drinks a day as well as 20 per cent off breakfast and lunch items (excluding meal deals).
Leon said members will include various other perks and discounts, as well as a loyalty scheme where customers can earn points.
“We're so excited to unveil the UK's most affordable coffee subscription,” said managing director Mac Plumpton. “Get ready for a service packed with flavour, value and great coffee.”
The fast food chain was founded in London in 2004, and while Pret concentrates on sandwiches, salads and pastries, Leon’s main offering centres on hot food, including curries and rice boxes.
Both, however, are among the biggest coffee sellers on the high street.
As for size, today there are almost 150 branches of Leon across the UK, with three in the Netherlands. Pret has almost 500 UK locations, and hundreds more overseas.
The latter’s subscription model, Club Pret, launched in September 2020. The company said it is used 1.25 million times every week and has since been rolled out in the US and France.
