

Lena Dunham has led the internet on a wild goose chase around Jack Antonoff’s former relationships after recalling their own tumultuous romance in her new memoir Famesick.
ICYMI, the Girls creator’s new book hit shelves this week, and it features more than a few bombshells from throughout her Hollywood career, including her six-year relationship with Antonoff — a music producer for Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter — back in 2012.

In one section of the memoir, Dunham recalls cheating on Antonoff at around the same time he grew close to an unnamed “teen pop star I was too oblivious to be jealous of”.
Dunham said she once FaceTimed Antonoff while he was “ensconced” in the studio with the singer, who apparently referred to her as “Aunt Lena”.
“One day I returned home to find her sprawled across our sectional couch, weeping into Jack’s lap as he told her that ‘your teens are for experimenting’ in a tone so comforting, it almost brought tears to my eyes,” Dunham wrote.
At around that time, Dunham said she was initially hesitant to stray from the “careful boundaries” of her and Antonoff’s relationship, but that “Jack was not observing them as closely as I was”.
Dunham then admitted to calling a childhood friend and hooking up with him, referring to herself as “an adultress”.
Followers of Dunham and Antonoff might already know this lore. The internet was swept up in speculation about the mystery pop star when news of Dunham and Antonoff’s split first broke, with the reigning theory being, even all these years later, that it was Lorde.

Antonoff produced Lorde’s album Melodrama in 2017, and Dunham addresses the public’s keen interest in the love triangle in Famesick. “I wasn’t paying attention, but the internet sure was,” she wrote.
Dunham even went as far as acknowledging a social media user’s viral PowerPoint presentation explaining the love triangle back in 2018, saying it was “so convincing that they had me rethinking events that I myself had been present for”.
Naturally, Dunham’s revelations has revived the same theory about Lorde’s alleged role in her romance with Antonoff, with one fan declaring the “Lorde PowerPoint is officially canon” and another saying Dunham “knew exactly what she was implying”.
Antonoff and Lorde have both denied ever having a relationship in the past. The producer described the speculation as “dumb hetero normative gossip” on X, while Lorde told fans on Instagram that “Jack and I are not dating”.
The denials have done little to quiet fan suspicion, with Dunham’s memoir only pouring gasoline on the years-old speculation. Antonoff has since moved on with actress Margaret Qualley, so let’s allow that PowerPoint to remain what it is: an ancient sacred text.
