Lego Jurassic Park 30th anniversary 2023 sets revealed

Five new Lego Jurassic Park sets are being launched to celebrate the brand’s 30th anniversary.

The toys will be available to purchase from June 1, 2023, and come with a new Brachiosaurus and two different Jeep Wranglers.

Fans have been waiting to purchase the sets since they were originally announced in September 2022, and the biggest one - Visitor Center: T. rex & Raptor Attack - can be pre-ordered from today.

The main characters from the 1993 science fiction action film are spread among the boxes, as well as the visitor centre and a Ford Explorer.

Here’s what you need to know about the five new Lego Jurassic Park sets.

What are the five new LEGO Jurassic Park sets?

Velociraptor Escape

(Lego)

The Velociraptor Escape is designed for Lego’s youngest fans, aged four and up.

It recreates one of Jurassic Park’s most terrifying scenes - when Muldoon and Sattler find out that the Velociraptor enclosure has been breached.

Lego has replaced Muldoon’s shredded arm with a hot dog.

With 137 pieces, it’s easy to build. It includes a Lego Velociraptor figure with a mouthful of teeth, a baby raptor in a nest peeking out of a cracked egg, a Robert Muldoon minifigure with a tranquilizer gun, and an Ellie Sattler minifigure riding an ATV, while holding a hot dog as a lure.

Dilophosaurus Ambush

This set is for children aged six and over. It recreates another of the film’s more unsettling moments - when Nedry meets his demise with a face-full of dinosaur spit.

The 211-piece set includes a Dilophosaurus Lego figure, a buildableJurassic Park jeep, a Dennis Nedry minifigure with a reversible face featuring one side covered in dinosaur spit, and the sign to the island’s East Dock with an arrow that can be reversed.

Triceratops Research

This is the first Lego set to include a pile of poo.

It’s designed for ages eight and above, and the pile of poo can be excavated, revealing West Indian lilac berries inside that may be the cause of a Triceratops’s upset tummy.

The 281-piece set includes a Lego Triceratops figure, the mound of faeces, a disgusted Ian Malcom minifigure, a tenacious Ellie Sattler minifigure, and a Jurassic Park Ford Explorer tour vehicle.

Brachiosaurus Discovery

One of the most memorable moments in Jurassic Park, and the reveal of just how far Hollywood visual effects had come, is recreated in this Brachiosaurus Discovery set that includes the first Lego version of the lumbering veggie-saurus.

The 512-piece set includes a towering Lego Brachiosaurus figure, which is the only new dinosaur figure to be introduced.

It has an articulated neck, head, and mouth, which can be used to munch on a brick-built tree.

The set also includes Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and John Hammond minifigures, and another Jurassic Park jeep.

Jurassic ParkVisitor Center: T. rex & Raptor Attack

This is the largest set and recreates the climactic finale of Jurassic Park, where the T.rex ends up accidentally saving the main characters while pursuing another meal.

The 693-piece set is targeted at Lego builders aged 12 and up and is the first time the park’s iconic visitor centre has been recreated in Lego.

It comes with both Lego T.rex and velociraptor figures, a dino skeleton, and Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, Henry Wu, Ray Arnold, Lex Murphy, and Tim Murphy minifigures.

It’s also the only set here to include two dinosaurs, along with a brick-built dino skeleton and plenty of minifigures.

It is available to pre-order.
