Friday is set to be grey, wet and miserable in Leeds but there is some hope on the horizon with brighter conditions forecast over the weekend.
The Met Office has confirmed today that they are expecting something approaching a heatwave to return at the end of July and into August. As we approach the end of June however that still seems a long way off.
The forecast for Leeds on Friday (June 30) is one of patchy cloud turning into an overcast outlook followed by longer spells of rain. The weekend outlook for the city is more positive with some sun expected on both Saturday and Sunday.

The full Met Office forecast for Friday in Yorkshire said: "Patchy cloud around to start on Friday before becoming more widespread with showers breaking out across the area. Longer spells of rain then developing mid-afternoon. Maximum temperature 19 °C.
The outlook for Saturday to Monday said: "Changeable weather throughout this period with a mixture of sunshine and showers, perhaps turning heavy and thundery at times. Strong westerly winds."
In Leeds it will be cloudy start in the early hours before becoming overcast with some light rain showers between 7am and 9am. Lighter cloud return until noon before thing take a turn for the worse again and those showers come back at around 3pm.
Remains overcast and cloudy into the night with maximum temperatures of around 17C. Staying warm well into the night and the early hours of Saturday morning.
Pollen count is high, looking ahead there is a good chance of a very high pollen count on Saturday. Sunrise is 4.40am and sunset is at 9.40pm.
