Leeds United transfers, Traore and Lang situations plus Radrizzani future at Elland Road

CaptaiN1950: Firstly, why are we so intent on going for Adama Traore from Wolves? Noa Lang interest?

BC: This is the answer I gave to someone else a short time ago: As it stands, Traore does not look like someone near the top of Orta's wanted lists. Evidently, there is a long-standing connection and relationship between them, but right now he is not someone Leeds are looking to bring in. The window has a long way to go and we cannot predict every little twist and turn, so who knows. If other targets evade Orta you could not rule out Traore being someone he likes later in the summer, but right now he's not understood to be one they are actively pursuing. Lang is one Orta likes, but there's no suggestion anything is imminent on a move to Leeds. If his character is in question, this is the kind of research and scouting Orta has to do to ensure his additions work within the dressing room.

Tim Campbell: Any irons in the fire for Lang?

BC: Orta likes Lang, but the most recent reports I read were linking him with AC Milan. Never say never in a fluid market, but it looks like last summer may have been United's window for the Dutchman. If Leeds get a sniff of availability for him I would be surprised if they didn't have a go, especially if it's after Raphinha has left.

Yorkie42: Leeds needs a striker, a clinical one otherwise we will be at the bottom again. Any news please?

BC : Nothing concrete yet. Orta and Leeds are happy with the three they have got done quickly and may now pause to assess their next step. Strikers of the quality required are not easy gets.

Colin.Bamford: What are your thoughts on the recruitment? Are the board now looking at a bigger squad? If so, how much do you think we will spend and would we go for squad players rather then getting better then what we have.

BC:"I like what they have done so far. The club certainly seems keen to boost the overall number of players available to Marsch compared with the lean units Bielsa liked to carry. They are already at something around £45m, so beyond £60m does not seem beyond the realms of possibility if they go after a striker of some standing. Raphinha and Phillips's departures would transform the landscape, however. There would be a lot more money to spend and a need for real quality to soften the blow of their exits.

Craig92: I know it is still months away, but with winter world cup. Not sure exactly how many players will be called up from us especially if Raph and Phillips move on. Do we know what club plan is during the break, will they go off for some warm weather training or friendlies somewhere?

BC: Far too early to say, to be honest. Need to get this pre-season sorted first. Much will depend on what state the squad is in by the time November arrives.

Tim Campbell: Radrizannis last year at the top before the 49rs take over?

BC: 49ers Enterprises would have had a reality check with the threat of relegation last season. It had been an upward trend for the Americans since they came on board in 2018 and then progress stalled dramatically last season. Survival means a second chance to take stock and recognise how to avoid the same mistakes again this season. I don't have any knowledge of what 49ers intend to do next, but it seems sensible to maintain the status quo for now, see how next term goes and then reassess their succession plan. Radrizzani is as committed as ever, from what I have been told.

Stephen J: Anything on New York City striker Castellanos?

BC: I have not heard anything firm on Castellanos, so don't despair too much if that's where you felt Leeds may be going. MLS is evidently trying its best to improve its standard and become a more powerful, higher-quality divisions, but it has a long way to go when the world's best players are only heading there in their mid-30s and looking for a pay check. In recent years there have been some decent exports out of there, but you're looking at the very best players in that league and they're going no higher than mid-table PL clubs. It still seems to make most sense for PL clubs to take MLS exports after a year or two elsewhere in Europe, like Aaronson from Austria.

Elenor: Are we buying Arnaud or not?

BC: Kalimuendo is one Leeds are understood to like, but talk of a formal bid may be wide of the mark. He's a striker on a lot of clubs' shortlists, we are told. He's not the number one target, but one that could well emerge as a goer.

Elenor: Any chance of us getting Charlie Taylor as LB?

BC: Always a chance with anyone, but not a name I have heard linked with Elland Road.

Elenor: Are the rumours about Berge true?

BC: Berge is not one I have looked into, but at the weekend our YorkshireLive colleagues said Blades had received no contact as of Saturday.

Elenor: Why aren't we looking at Mohamed Kamara since his style is very similar to that of KP? He's also from the club we already bought 2 players from. Anything about us signing a new back-up Goalkeeper?

BC: Nothing on a new goalkeeper as yet, but I wouldn't rule it out if the right name became available.

BMG: Where do you think we still need to strengthen (a) if we keep Kalvin and Rapha (b) if we sell Kalvin only and (c) if we sell Rapha only. I personally would say we need another versatile or slightly defensive midfielder, a striker and a back up GK. If KP goes, perhaps one more midfielder. If Rapha goes I'd promote Summerville if he can play in Marsch's system, and maybe buy Plata if he's cheap ish.

BC: Back-up goalkeeper, left-back and striker. b) Same three plus a defensive midfielder. c) Same three plus an attacking midfielder/inside forward.

BMG: Who would you definitely sell / possibly sell depending on price / loan out? I think Costa, Casilla, Klich and Roberts should be sold most probably. Llorente and Rodrigo are two that maybe could go. I'd give Firpo chance to see if he can cut it, hence wouldn't buy a Left back

BC: All of last season's loaned-out players would be loaned again or sold, for me, depending on the depth with the under-23s. As for the established names, there are debates to be had about Roberts, Llorente, Rodrigo, Klich and Shackleton, but that's not to say I would get rid of them all. Firpo has to be given the benefit of the doubt after one year.
