Here are your latest Leeds United transfer rumours for Wednesday, December 7.
Junior Firpo
Leeds United left-back Junior Firpo is expected to remain at Elland Road, despite reports suggesting that the club are looking for another left-back in January, according to Phil Hay of the Athletic.
Firpo has struggled for form and fitness since his arrival from FC Barcelona in the summer of 2021. He missed the opening eight league games with a knee injury that he suffered during pre-season, and has failed to recover his place in the side.
Pascal Struijk has filled the void excellently and has retained his place at left-back as a result. Nonetheless, Leeds have been linked with a number of left-backs of late, but Hay insists that the Dutchman will continue his role for the rest of the season.
Hay wrote in his Athletic column: "The club want a left-back and are weighing up younger prospects who fall into their ‘anticipating talent’ bracket.
“As he has for most of the season, Pascal Struijk is expected to continue in that role when matches begin again and any new addition would arrive as competition to the Dutchman.
“Firpo remains part of Marsch’s plans, but in 18 months he has not played well enough or been available enough for Leeds to consider his role properly covered.”
Jack Harrison
Newcastle United are still keen on signing Jack Harrison, but have him as second choice behind Brighton & Hove Albion winger Leandro Trossard, according to TEAMtalk.
The Magpies want to sign Trossard from the Seagulls either in January or next summer, although Brighton intend to trigger a one-year contract extension to keep him at the club.
Trossard has also attracted attention from Chelsea, who are managed by former Brighton boss Graham Potter. However, the most serious interest has come from Newcastle, whose sporting director Dan Ashworth signed Trossard from Genk in 2019.
Newcastle were reportedly interested in signing Harrison during the summer, and still have the Leeds winger on their radar as back-up. Harrison's current deal expires in 2024 but Leeds are expected to begin talks over a new contract in the coming weeks.
