Leeds United transfer rumours with latest on Dan James, Illan Meslier and Ajax star

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours for Monday, August 29.

Spurs 'make loan-to-buy offer' for James

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made a loan-to-buy offer for Leeds winger Daniel James. According to Alan Nixon, Spurs fancy their chances of adding an attacking player to their squad in the last few days of the transfer window.

While Spurs have made a loan-to-buy offer for the Welshman, Leeds have reportedly demanded cash only in the deal. The Whites are keen to keep the former Manchester United star, but if he is to go, they want it to be on a permanent basis. Leeds signed James for £25 million from the Red Devils last season, with Marcelo Bielsa a huge fan of the forward.

James has scored four goals in 39 appearances during his time at Leeds.

Man United 'considered' Meslier

Illan Meslier was reportedly on Manchester United's long list of goalkeeping targets to sign this summer. According to The Sun, the Leeds shot-stopper was considered by the Red Devils, but they have opted to sign Newcastle United's Martin Dubravka instead.

After loaning Dean Henderson out to Nottingham Forest, Erik ten Hag has been looking for a goalkeeper to compete with David De Gea, and Meslier was seen as an option.

Meslier has enjoyed a solid start to the season with Leeds, and the Frenchman still has four years remaining on his Elland Road deal. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has confirmed that United are pursuing Dubravka.

Leeds 'interested' in Ajax star

Leeds are reportedly interested in signing Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus. According to Ghanasoccernet.com, the Whites are among a host of Premier League clubs keen on the 22-year-old.

Everton have been heavily linked with Kudus in recent weeks, but the report states that Leeds will be up against Wolves, Leicester City and Tottenham in the race for the Ghanaian.

'Several clubs across Europe' are reportedly interested in Kudus. He has played 47 games in his two years at Ajax, scoring six goals.
