Leeds United transfer rumours: Crysencio Summerville tipped for new deal amid Cody Gakpo blow

A look at the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Saturday, 12 November.

Cyrsencio Summerville tipped for new Leeds United contract

Former Hibernian striker Tam McManus believes it's only a matter of time until Crysencio Summerville is offered a new deal by Leeds United. The 21-year-old has stepped up to the plate in recent weeks, with winning goals against Liverpool and Bournemouth to propel the Whites away from the relegation zone.

“If he continues to play the way he is playing and he is the one making the difference every week then he will need a new deal to reflect that," the former Hibs striker told Football Insider.

“You have to think that Leeds wouldn’t mind giving him more money if he continues to produce. It’s on him to keep doing that now.

“He looks a real top talent based on what we have seen this season and Leeds are famous for developing young players like him. They will want to keep him around and maybe build a team around him if he can sign a big contract with improved terms.”

Cody Gakpo's proposed move to Elland Road 'no more'

Fabrizio Romano claims Leeds United may have missed the boat when it comes to signing Dutch international Cody Gakpo. Both the Whites and Southampton were keen on signing the 23-year-old in the summer but after speaking with Louis an Gaal, the playmaker opted to stay with PSV.

Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani tweeted the Whites were hoping to get a deal for Gakpo over the line on deadline day, but a move would not transpire. The Dutch winger is now attracting interest from Manchester United and Arsenal, with Leeds said to no longer be in the equation.

Speaking on his Here We Go podcast to discuss the future of the Dutch winger with the World Cup coming up, Romano said: “But now for Gakpo there is a crazy race. It’s no more for Leeds, it’s no more for Southampton. They would love to go for Gakpo. But now the level is different.”
