Leeds United transfer rumours as Whites 'waiting' on Charles de Ketelaere and Jesse Marsch eyeing Bayern Munich man

Here are the latest Leeds United transfer rumours for Thursday, July 14.

Whites ‘waiting’ on CDK

The recently reported €35million bid for Charles de Ketelaere was actually made 10 days ago, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, with Leeds now ‘waiting’ on a decision from Club Brugge and their player.

The 21-year-old has made clear his preference on a move to AC Milan, with the Serie A champions able to offer Champions League football, but they have failed to match Brugge’s valuation amid continuing negotiations.

The situation is similar to that of Raphinha, who had an offer from Chelsea on the table following a £60million before holding out for a dream move to Barcelona.

Marsch ‘considering’ Richards

Whites boss Jesse Marsch is ‘considering’ a move for Bayern Munich and US national team defender Chris Richards, according to CBS Sport journalist Ben Jacobs. The 22-year-old primarily operates as a centre-back but can play at full-back on either side, making him a strong potential stand-in for the injured Junior Firpo.

Jacobs tweeted: “Sources tell me Marsch is still considering USMNT defender Chris Richards, though nothing beyond that yet.

“Logic of Richards from Marsch’s perspective is he can be used at full-back. Leeds ideally want another left-back. Richards is primarily a centre-back, though, and I am told Leeds haven’t yet made any Bayern approach.”

Mata rumours come and go

Reports from Spanish outlet AS claimed that Victor Orta had been in contact with Juan Mata’s father over a move for the former Manchester United man. Mata was released by the Red Devils this summer after nine seasons at the Old Trafford - the Spaniard has 277 Premier League appearances to his name with Manchester United and Chelsea, racking up 50 goals and 64 assists.

But sources inside Elland Road were quick to dispel the rumour, according to The Times’ Martyn Ziegler, with the 34-year-old neither fulfilling a missing role within the Whites squad nor matting the age profile of current arrivals - the average age of Leeds’ six summer signings is 22.5.
