The latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Wednesday, 17 August.
Wilfried Gnonto could be final Victor Orta 'surprise'
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano believes Wilfried Gnonto could be the 'final surprise' of Leeds United's transfer window. He claims the Italian striker is firmly on Victor Orta's radar ahead of final few weeks of the transfer window.
Speaking on the Que Golazo YouTube channel, Romano said: “One name I wanted to mention is Wilfried Gnonto. This Italian guy playing for Zurich who did very good in the last games.
“18 years old, former Inter academy player who is available on the market because many clubs have been interested this summer. And Leeds are keeping an eye on him, so he could be the final surprise for Victor Orta and Radrizzani at the end of the market.”
The former Inter Milan striker was involved in 15 goal involvements in 36 appearances last season and could prove further competition for Jesse Marsch's squad.
Motherwell agree loan move for Stuart McKinstry
Leeds United midfielder Stuart McKinstry is reportedly set to join Motherwell on a season-long loan. According to Football Insider, the 19-year-old will rejoin his former club after a breakthrough in talks.
The Whites have sent a number of academy starlets out on loan already this summer as they look for further first-team experience. Motherwell have reportedly beaten Hartlepool United and a number of other Scottish clubs to McKinstry's signature.
The Scottish youth international is in the final year of his contract after reportedly coming to an impasse in contract talks.
Rovers boss makes Brereton Diaz transfer admission amid Leeds link
Blackburn Rovers manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has admitted he still does not know whether Ben Brereton-Diaz will be at the club by the end of the transfer window. Brereton-Diaz has been linked to a host of Premier League clubs including Leeds United, though there has been very little in the way of concrete offers.
Reports claim that Rovers value the Chile international at around £20 million following his superb season for both club and country in 2021/22. And Brereton-Diaz has shown no signs of the speculation affecting his performances, having started the season in fine form.
He has netted two goals in the opening three Championship games, with Blackburn the only side in the division still to have a 100% record. Leeds boss Jesse Marsch has insisted the club are still ‘evaluating’ the market for strikers, with Brereton-Diaz among the names to have been linked.
