Leeds United transfer rumours as Whites sent investment warning and Brennan Johnson latest

A look at the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Friday, 29 April.

Whites sent investment warning after January window

Former Leeds United shot topper Paddy Kenny has warned the Whites hierarchy they must invest in the squad this summer. The Whites season has been hampered with injuries and the absence of key players has left them in a relegation battle.

“Leeds should have invested in January," Kenny told Football Insider. "That’s why they have ended up in this position. They had key players out and didn’t replace them.

“That’s not a problem that is going to go away next season, players will get injured. They have no strength in depth so as soon as they had a couple of injuries you were left with half a team.

“Leeds have to fix that in the summer and we know they have the money to do that. There has been investment, we just haven’t seen it yet.

"No doubt Jesse Marsch will want to move a few players on and put his own stamp on this team. If they have real intentions on getting back up that table then you can see them spending serious money this summer because they won’t want another season like this.”

Leeds 'gearing up £20million offer' for Championship hotshot

The Mail claims Leeds United will make a £20million offer for Championship hotshot Brennan Johnson if they ensure their Premier League status for next season. Brentford had a bid for the Wales international knocked back in January but his performances in the Championship have shown so sign of slowing down.

Newcastle United are also keen on a move for Johnson who has been a standout player for Forest this season. The 20-year-old has registering 15 goals and nine assists at the City Ground so far this campaign.

Steve Cooper's side have all but assured their place in the play-offs but could go one better and secure automatic promotion if Bournemouth fluff their lines. Johnson is in the final year of his contract and Nottingham Forest could cash in before it's too late.
