Leeds United transfer rumours as Whites made Goncalo Ramos 'offer' amid Forshaw contract doubts

Here are your latest Leeds United transfer rumours for Monday, April 3.

Leeds United had Goncalo Ramos 'offer' rejected

Leeds United reportedly had an offer for Benfica star Goncalo Ramos rejected last summer after it fell beneath the Portuguese side's asking price.

That's according to Spanish outlet AS (via Sport Witness ), who claim that the Whites 'made an effort' to sign Ramos ahead of the start of the 2022/23 season. The striker hit the headlines after scoring a hat-trick for Portugal during the Qatar World Cup, but now it seems that Leeds had their eye on him before the rest of the world.

It is thought that Benfica were open to selling the forward over doubts that he could not cut it at the top-level and that Leeds were one of the clubs interested in his services. Ramos has quickly become one of the most in-demand attackers this season following his World Cup heroics, with the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid also thought to be eyeing up a move for him.

Although the specific offer that Leeds made is not mentioned, it is understood that it was turned down as it failed to match Benfica's asking price.

Adam Forshaw contract extension in doubt

Elsewhere, the Athletic's Phil Hay has reported that Leeds will be considering the possibility of letting Adam Forshaw leave for free at the end of this season despite having the option to extend his contract by a further 12 months.

Forshaw has played in just five Premier League matches for the Whites this term with injury preventing him from having an impact within the squad during their battle against relegation. And now it appears that his fitness concerns could well prompt Leeds to cut ties with the 31-year-old this summer.

The club do hold the possibility of extending his current deal - set to expire in just a few months - but now it has been suggested that Leeds could be willing to decline the the 12-month extension option in its entirety.
