Leeds United transfer rumours as Whites 'apply pressure' on Benfica for AZ Alkmaar left-back Milos Kerkez

Here are your latest Leeds United transfer rumours for Tuesday, April 18.

Leeds United 'apply pressure' on Benfica for AZ Alkmaar left-back Milos Kerkez

Pressure from Leeds United and Borussia Dortmund is causing issues for Benfica in their quest to sign AZ Alkmaar left-back Milos Kerkez.

That is according to Portuguese outlet Record (via Sports Witness), who claim Leeds and Dortmund are refusing to give up on the 19-year-old.

Benfica view the Hungarian international as a replacement for Alejandro Grimaldo, who is out of contract at the Estadio de Luz at the end of the season.

The player's father has travelled to Lisbon to meet with Benfica representatives and explore both the city and the club's training facilities, and was impressed. However, his future remains uncertain as the summer transfer window edges nearer.

Junior Firpo has been a regular starter at left-back since Javi Gracia took charge in February, while Pascal Struijk also played that role earlier in the season under Jesse Marsch.

Kerkez was plucked from Hungarian outfit Gyor by AC Milan in February 2021 but never made a single senior appearance for the Rossoneri during his 11 months at the San Siro.

He traded AC Milan for AZ Alkmaar in January 2022, and has established himself as a regular in their side in both the Eredivisie and UEFA Europa Conference League this season.

The defender has racked up five goals and seven assists in 45 appearances across all competitions this term. AZ Alkmaar have reached the quarter-final of the Europa Conference League (albeit with a 2-0 deficit from the first leg against Anderlecht), and sit in fourth place in the Dutch top-flight.

Leeds plotting move for Anderlecht defender Zeno Debast

Leeds are weighing up a move for Anderlecht youngster Zeno Debast, according to Belgian outlet Voetbal Belgie.

The 19-year-old is believed to cost in the region of £7million, and has also attracted interest from Premier League rivals West Ham United.

Debast has been likened to Manchester City legend and fellow Belgian defender Vincent Kompany, and has enjoyed an incredible breakthrough season in Brussels.

The centre-back has registered 18 clean sheets across his 47 appearances for Anderlecht this term, and even captained them as they defeated KSK Lierse Kempenzonen on penalties in the Belgian Cup in November.

His form has heralded three caps for the Belgian national team, although he was left on the bench for their 3-0 win over Sweden during the most recent international break.
