A round-up of the latest Leeds United transfer rumours on Wednesday, February 15.
Arne Slot 'would have dared' to take over at Leeds United
Despite reportedly rejecting a move to Leeds United, Feyenoord boss Arne Slot would have dared to take over at Leeds United according to journalist Martijn Krabbendam. Speaking on the Dick Voormekaar Podcast on Voetbal International and then relayed by FR-Fans, he said: “We knew, of course, that he was on the list, but not that it would go that fast. That suddenly very serious work was being done. I think if he had been given the chance, he would have dared. Only Feyenoord absolutely wouldn’t cooperate.”
Slot looks set to stay with Feyenoord until the summer, with his side currently top of the Eredivisie, two points clear of AZ Alkmaar. The Dutch manager is highly thought of having won the manager of the year award in the Netherlands, pipping Erik ten Hag to the award in 2021-22.
He also guided the Dutch side to the Europa Conference League final, where they were narrowly beaten by Jose Mourinho's AS Roma.
Leeds United have 'three candidates' on managerial shortlist
Well known journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Leeds United have three candidates at the top of a secret shortlist. The Whites are in their second week of their managerial hunt after parting company with Jesse Marsch and have been linked with a whole host of names.
Romano told Caught Offside: “Leeds have two or three managerial candidates still being considered after they decided to make the Alfred Schreuder talks collapse. They want to keep it secret as conversations now enter into key stages.
“I can’t comment on Leeds links with Steven Gerrard for now, but I can say he was never that close to taking the Poland national team job; he had some initial talks but his priority is a club more than a national team and they decided to go for Fernando Santos instead.”
