The latest Leeds United transfer rumours from Sunday, May 1.
Leeds linked again to Matt Targett
Leeds United have again been linked with left-back Matt Targett, who is currently on loan from Aston Villa at Newcastle United and doing an excellent job. Leeds look lacking in the position, and there is speculation that the Whites could be interested if the 26-year-old does not sign permanently for Newcastle.
The Birmingham Mail wrote : "It has been claimed that interest has emerged from Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United in Targett after his superb form for Newcastle."
The paper also quoted Newcastle boss Eddie Howe who was asked about Targett's future on Friday, to which he said: "No discussions with Villa on Matt at the moment. We're still in the season and we're being very respectful to Villa for lending us Matt, we'll make that decision at the end of the season."

Aston Villa want Kalvin Phillips
Another bit of speculation from the Birmingham Mail, this time a player who is already at Leeds United: Kalvin Phillips. After the Daily Mail reported that Phillips would reject signing with Manchester United if he was to leave Leeds, suddenly clubs around the country seem to think they have a chance of luring him.
The 26-year-old England midfielder has been a target for many teams for a while now, but with summer approaching the rumours are ramping up again. Since the Manchester United rumour was shot down, West Ham pundits have again become excited, as it seems have Aston Villa.
The Birmingham Mail wrote : "Phillips is a transfer target for Villa this summer, who want to bring in a top defensive midfielder to strengthen Steven Gerrard 's squad."
Why Phillips would switch from Leeds to Villa is unclear, though the Midlands side do have a lot of money to spend. Time will tell.
Leeds one among many in hunt for Hubers
Leeds have previously been linked with Cologne defender Timo Hubers, but it seems like they are but one club of many according to Football Insider.
The website wrote : "Crystal Palace, Watford and Fulham have joined Leeds United in the race to sign FC Koln defender Timo Hubers."
The 25-year-old centre-back has only played in about half his team's matches in the Bundesliga this season. He is also yet to trouble the national selectors.
