Leeds United target Tyler Adams reveals what Jesse Marsch is like as a head coach

Tyler Adams has outlined man-management as being one the key strengths of Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch. Adams, who looks set to join Leeds from RB Leipzig, worked under Marsch at New York Red Bulls, and then the German club.

Marsch rated Adams highly from a young age, and handed him his New York Red Bulls first-team debut aged just 16 in a pre-season friendly against Chelsea.

Adams has played 71 times under Marsch; 55 games for New York Red Bulls and 16 games for RB Leipzig. The USA international will become the third signing that Marsch has coached in the past, joining Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen.

In an ESPN interview conducted with Adams shortly after Marsch joined Leeds in February, the 23-year-old said: "As an American, you have to earn your respect wherever you go. When you go into Leeds and follow a manager like Marcelo Bielsa - who is obviously such a big name - it's not going to be easy.

"For me, I'm really grateful that Jesse gave me the opportunity to become professional. He gave me my first opportunities to play the professional game. He's very heart-to-heart with you and very upfront and honest. I think he'll do well there.

"Man-management is super important. When you have a good connection with your players, they want to battle and fight for you on the field every weekend. Whether you sit down and talk to them about football or about life, that connection is really important."
