ITV pundits Ally McCoist and Nigel de Jong have hailed Leeds United target Cody Gakpo after the Dutchman bagged the opening goal of the Netherlands World Cup group stage clash against Ecuador.
One of the hottest prospects in world football right now, Gakpo fired home from outside the box after just five minutes against Ecuador, showing just why he is such a highly sought after talent.
The 23-year-old winger is someone Leeds were heavily interested in during the most recent transfer window, but now could find themselves priced out of a move for the Dutch international given his recent performances.

While Leeds would love to land a player of Gakpo's quality, the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool have all also been linked with the Dutch forward, which will likely scupper the Whites efforts.
And speaking on ITV's World Cup coverage, compatriot de Jong and Scotsman McCoist raved about Gakpo's strike which the latter labelled as "magnificent".
"He’s [Gakpo] a real talent," said de Jong. "It was a great pass from [Nathan] Aké here, this is what we like to see from Dutch football - breaking the lines. Brilliant touch, a little bit self inflicted from Ecuador but it was a great strike from a difficult angle as well.
"This is the man in-form for the Dutch team right now, especially when Memphis Depay is not fully fit yet. We’ve got to have the creativity from other players and they’ve got to step up to the occasion, and Gakpo is doing that in back-to-back games."
McCoist added: "What a finish from Gakpo on the left-foot, Klassen’s position intercepts the pass, look at this, that is magnificent with the left-foot. Starts outside the post and curls in absolutely beautiful."
