Leeds United supporters voice Jesse Marsch concerns while Wilfried Gnonto praised after Villa defeat

Leeds United fans voiced their concerns following the 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Friday evening. Despite plenty of promise in the first half, the Whites failed to capitalise and succumbed to another crushing league defeat.

A winless run now stretches to eight games and some supporters are beginning to ask questions over Marsch's future. For further context, Leeds have won just two of their last 17 outings across all competitions.

Rodrigo thought he had chalked off a Leon Bailey opener midway through the opening period but a tight VAR call halted the celebrations. To rub salt into Leeds' wounds, Villa were the beneficiary of another close VAR decision when Emi Buendia doubled their advantage.

A lot of the pre-match talk centred around Patrick Bamford's return - and he offered United fans some hope for the future. His tap-in, after some brilliant play from Wilfried Gnonto, will provide a much-needed confidence boost after a long lay-off.

Another scintillating display from Gnonto was the highlight for Whites fans, with the Villa backline struggling to cope. Billed as one for the future when he arrived from FC Zurich, few would have expected him to have such a big part to play this season.

Any late attempt to rescue a point was in vain as Villa held on for a 2-1 win - meaning Leeds remain just two points off the drop zone and nervously watching other results this weekend. Here's a look at what supporters were saying on Twitter...

@Heisholt: Why does it hurt so Marsch to be #lufc supporter? Good night.

@callummaddell: So infuriating watching this Leeds side under Marsch, good moments going forward but constant same mistakes at the back, can’t keep the ball and just all round naive play. Just not improving, going nowhere when almost guaranteed to concede 2+ goals a game. 2 wins in 17 now

@clifMoody: 2 wins in 18 games. come on we need to change something

@tatey_lufc: Sack him now before it’s too late. 2 wins in 17 is abysmal

@robdocs: Willy Gnonto, what can I say? 19 years old. What a player

@BoboChubbles19: Gnonto had to be the Player of the Match. Result went against Leeds but he was outstanding!

@Adam_coopers98: Gnonto in this team is like having Neymar playing at Stoke

@RhLUFC96: Past the stage of performances, need results, if it wasn’t for Gnonto we’d have nothing, time to go
