Leeds United supporters have been left fearing the worst after their defeat to Arsenal left them inside the Premier League relegation zone. A win for Everton at Leicester compounded their 2-1 defeat at the Emirates, a scoreline that didn’t quite reflect proceedings in North London.
Two early goals, the first of which coming from a horrendous error from Illan Meslier, gave the Whites an uphill task and it was made 10 times harder in the 27th minute. Luke Ayling dived in two-footed on Gabriel Martinelli in an innocuous area of the pitch and was rightly shown a red card after consultation with VAR.
With one of very few Leeds attacks, Diego Llorente halved the deficit when he smashed in from Junior Firpo’s near-post flick-on. But, Arsenal closed the game in fairly comfortable fashion despite the valiant efforts of the 10 visiting players.
