Leeds United summer transfer situation compared to Aston Villa's post Jack Grealish experience

TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan has compared Leeds United's transfer situation to Aston Villa's summer window last term, which saw them have a substantial sum of money to spend following the sale of Jack Grealish.

Grealish departed Villa Park to join Manchester City for £100m, which left his former club having to fill in the creative void he left. They signed Emi Buendia, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings following Grealish's move to Man City.

Of course, similarities between their window last summer can be drawn with Leeds' window this time around.

With Kalvin Phillips close to joining Man City and Raphinha more than likely to leave Elland Road this summer, the Whites could find themselves with around £100m to spend on reinforcing their squad.

They have already added Red Bull Salzburg duo Rasmus Kristensen and Brenden Aaronson, as well as midfielder Marc Roca from Bayern Munich but will need to find more direct replacements for both Phillips and Raphinha.

Given the state of the transfer market and the fact every club will know Leeds have cash to burn, the Whites will more likely than not have to spend the majority, if not all of the money generated from the sales of Phillips and Raphinha.

And speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT's 'White and Jordan' show, former Crystal Palace chairman Jordan predicts Leeds will spend big this summer to replace the duo.

Read Simon Jordan and Jim White's talkSPORT conversation below...

Jim White : "He's not going to spend all of it is he? If he get's £92m for these two, he's not going all is he?"

Simon Jordan : "Oh I think they probably will.

JW : "Will they?"

SJ : "Yeah, I mean I don't see why not. I think they've got American investors in there who are potentially the reasons why Jesse Marsch is there in the first place because you've got American investment in there now. I think there's no doubt that they'll probably spend the bulk of what they generate in the same way Aston Villa did. So I think you'll find they've had a scare, they know what that scare looks like. They know they weren't big enough and strong enough as a squad. They know they had big gaps across the board to replace injured players. I think they'll absolutely be spending the £100m and probably a little bit more."
