Tyler Adams has travelled to Thailand to enjoy some well-deserved time off before re-focusing his attention on club football with Leeds United, with the aim of finding consistent enough form in the second half of the Premier League season to avoid relegation.
Impressive wins over Chelsea and Liverpool stand out when reviewing Leeds’ results from the 14 matches in the first half of the season before the World Cup break, but these two victories are not a true reflection of their campaign. It can perhaps be better summed up with their two most recent results, a 4-3 home win to Bournemouth, before a defeat of the same score line away to Tottenham Hotspur, who have also struggled with consistency.
But then came the World Cup and welcomed break for both Adams and his Leeds and United States teammate, Brenden Aaronson.
Whilst Aaronson was limited to brief cameos off of the bench, Adams starred for the Stars and Stripes in Qatar, not only wearing the captain’s armband for his national team, but also being widely recognised as their best performer over the four games they played before being eventually knocked out by the Netherlands in the Round of 16.

Adams’ praise extended beyond the pitch too, with his answer to an Iranian journalist from the USA vs Iran pre-match press conference going viral due to the 23-year-old’s staggering maturity, level-headedness and respect which prompted an outpour of admiration.
Although it wasn’t meant to be for the USMNT at this winter’s World Cup, Adams is now enjoying some well-earned down time in the perhaps unexpected location of Koh Panyee, often known as the floating village, located in Phang Nga Bay in Thailand.
Adams shared with his 300,000 Instagram followers, photos and videos from his trip to Koh Panyee captioning the post: ‘Footy in the Floating Village’.
Leeds United host Spanish side Real Sociedad in a mid-season friendly on Friday with the hopes of building up match practice and fitness before taking on AS Monaco in what will be their last non-competitive fixture before the return of Premier League action.
Jesse Marsch’s side face an almighty test in their first game back when reigning Premier League champions Manchester City make the short trip to Elland Road on December 28. If the Whites have any chance of victory, then they will need to be at their very best and Tyler Adams, whose qualities have now been showcased on the biggest stage, will be at the heart of that.
