Angus Kinnear has reiterated the youth policy leading Leeds United strategy at Elland Road and Jesse Marsch’s role in pushing that forward from the front. In January, the chief executive addressed transfer policy and why eight-figure fees would not be splashed out on targets the club felt were no better than the best of the under-23 crop already in the building.
No senior additions were made in that window and the spotlight has remained on the youth players plugging the gaps not addressed in January. Writing in Saturday’s programme, Kinnear focused on the big role the youngsters played in the recent two wins, as well as Marsch’s role in bringing them on.
“Part of the rationale behind Jesse’s appointment was his ability to fast-track some of the exciting developing talent that is core to our long-term strategy, so it was especially satisfying to witness the impact made by the under-23s who stepped up,” he said.
