Leeds United finally make their return to Premier League action this weekend as they host Aston Villa at Elland Road. The Whites’ clash with Steven Gerrard’s side is set to be Sky Sports’ second Super Sunday offering of the afternoon, getting underway at 4.30pm BST following the conclusion of the Manchester derby.
But Sunday matches are no longer an infrequent occurrence for Leeds, particularly since they returned to the Premier League. Leeds’ last Saturday 3pm match at Elland Road came on the opening day against Wolves, and they don’t have another one until Bournemouth in November, which is their final home game before the World Cup.
Jesse Marsch’s side were also initially set to play each of their October weekend matches on a Sunday, until their trip to Liverpool at the end of the month was moved back to Saturday. Leeds will face Crystal Palace (a), Arsenal (h), Fulham (h) and this weekend’s aforementioned Villa match on Sunday.

Though not a major deal, it certainly highlights the level of control television broadcasters now have on the sport. Saturday 3pm has always been the traditional kick-off time associated with English football and for match-going supporters in particular, they are the ones who are impacted the most by the constant changes.
