Leeds United have brought in the 10 th most amount of money from incoming transfers in the top five European Leagues during the calendar year of 2022. After two consecutive years in the Premier League without a major player sale, Leeds were always clear that in order to have a big summer of incomings, there would also have to be a departure or two.
The Whites raked in almost £100 million combined from both Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha – who had established themselves as Leeds’ best two players in the last couple of seasons. Leif Davis was the only other departure from the calendar year of 2022 that brought in money, as he was sold to Ipswich Town for £1 million.
According to data from CIES Football Observatory, the money generated from Leeds’ player sales totals €115 million, with only nine other teams from across Europe higher. In fact, from the Premier League only Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion accumulated more.
