Leeds United's definitive Jack Harrison stance amid Newcastle United transfer speculation

Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani has put to bed any rumours that Jack Harrison will leave the clubs this month. Harrison has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United in recent weeks with the Magpies reportedly seeing an opening bid rejected.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle will return with a fresh offer, particularly after Radrizzani’s latest hands-off warning. Leeds have already sold two of their key players from last season’s squad, with Kalvin Phillips departing for Manchester City and Raphinha making the switch to Barcelona.

Given the difficult campaign that Leeds endured last term, they can hardly afford to lose another of their key players. Harrison has netted eight goals in each of the last two Premier League seasons and became an important part of Jesse Marsch’s side following his appointment in March.

Half of Harrison’s Premier League goals came from March 18 onwards, highlighting how key the 25-year-old was during Leeds’ nervy relegation run-in. Given Raphinha’s departure, Harrison will be expected to step-up to the plate even more this season.

Leeds have recruited attacking reinforcements this summer with Brenden Aaronson and Luis Sinisterra coming in, but they will need some time to adapt to the Premier League. Harrison will therefore have to ensure he starts the season as he ended the last: on top of his game.

Radrizzani was discussing Harrison’s future in an interview with the Athletic and was quick to dismiss the rumours of a departure for the winger this summer. He said: “Absolutely not. There is no way. Jack stays here.”
