Leeds United 'revive interest' in Southampton striker Che Adams

Leeds United could be set to land a striker who they have been trying to acquire for other two years after reports have emerged that Jesse Marsch could be targeting Che Adams. The Southampton striker was a target for Leeds in 2020, when they tried to bring him in on loan - but no move materialised.

However, it is now being reported by The Athletic that Marsch's men have their eye on an unnamed Premier League forward and according to HITC, that man could be Saints ' Adams. Leeds will no doubt be looking for a striking partner for Patrick Bamford, along with Joe Gelhardt next season, with Spanish striker Rodrigo flattering to deceive since his big money move from Valencia.

Adams had fallen down the pecking order this past season with Armando Broja, Shane Long, Adam Armstong and Nathan Redmond competing for the striking positions. But Adams still finished as the club's third top scorer with eight goals.

In January 2020, Leeds looked to bring him in loan with director of football, Victor Orta, said the Whites had targeted the then 23-year-old as he was struggling for game time at that moment in the 2019/20 campaign. Now Aston Villa striker Danny Ings was first in the attacking pecking order at St Mary's and Adams had struggled since his £15million move from Birmingham in the summer of 2019.

But Adams begun playing well in 2020, with Leeds failing to bring him in, before signing Jean-Kevin Augustin from RB Leipzig - a move that they would certainly regret.

Orta told Leeds Live : "I have a player [Adams] that the second week of December is really available for us, near to closing (the deal), and the second week of January he’s not available because he gave a nice assist against Leicester.”
