Leeds United relegation rivals injuries and suspensions as Southampton receive Jan Bednarek boost

Here is a round-up of the latest injuries and suspensions for Leeds United's relegation rivals.

Nottingham Forest - 9

Nottingham Forest have yet another injury concern after Ryan Yates went down with a shoulder injury against Newcastle, and are hoping that rest over the next fortnight will do the trick.

Chris Wood picked up a knock to his thigh against Tottenham, and was ineligible to face his parent club in their previous outing against the Magpies.

Scott McKenna suffered a hamstring injury against Fulham in February and was ruled out for six weeks. He also didn't feature in training prior to their defeat against Newcastle.

Willy Boly also sustained a hamstring issue at Craven Cottage and is fighting to feature again this season. Dean Henderson has been out with a thigh injury since January, which prompted Forest to sign Keylor Navas on loan from PSG to cover for his absence.

Taiwo Awoniyi is still doing rehabilitation work as he steps up his recovery from a groin injury, while Cheikhou Kouyate is back in training after being stretchered off for Senegal during the World Cup.

Omar Richards (leg) and Giulian Biancone (ACL) will not feature for the rest of the season and are long-term absentees.

Leicester City - 7

Wout Faes will be available for Leicester's crucial clash against Crystal Palace after serving a one-match suspension. Youri Tielemans was ruled out for six weeks with ankle ligament damage in late-February and is not expected to return until mid-April.

However, Victor Kristiansen picked up an ankle injury earlier this month, but could be available for the Palace game, as could Jonny Evans (thigh).

Ryan Bertrand is back in training after being out with a knee injury since December 2021 but will need to build up his fitness before being restored to the first team fold.

James Justin has been ruled out for the rest of the season after rupturing his Achilles, while Jannik Vestergaard has been frozen out by the Foxes this season.

Wolves - 6

Hugo Bueno has missed the last three weeks with a hamstring injury but could possibly return when Wolves travel to Nottingham Forest on April 1. Boubacar Traore's return from a groin injury was delayed, and the Ivorian will be working to make his comeback following over three months out after the international break.

However, Jonny will serve a three-match suspension following his red card for a high challenge on Leeds United defender Luke Ayling.

Hwang Hee-chan is forecast to return when Wolves welcome Chelsea to Molineux on April 8, while Sasa Kalajdzic and Chiquinho are long-term absentees.

Crystal Palace - 6

Injury expert Ben Dinnery has claimed that Crystal Palace could welcome back Sam Johnstone and possibly Vicente Guaita in April. 19-year-old rookie Joseph Whitworth has filled in between the sticks over the past two games, but Palace could have a more experienced pair of hands to rely upon soon.

Dinnery told GIVEMESPORT: “I haven't heard much with regards to the club maybe putting an application in with the Premier League to have special dispensation to bring in another experienced goalkeeper.

“That could suggest Sam Johnstone isn't too far away and could return at the beginning of April. Or possibly even secondly, the injury to Vicente Guaita isn't too serious, and he could be back in contention. So, there's a lot of trying to fill in the blanks with that one.

“There hasn't been any information released other than the fact that it was a training ground hamstring injury. But it's almost the things that aren't happening that tell us the most about that injury unless, of course, there's stuff going on behind the scenes, and it just hasn't been announced because of that managerial change.”

Elsewhere, James McArthur is set to return from illness after the international break, while Albert Sambi Lokonga will be available once again after he was ineligible to face his parent club Arsenal.

Joachim Andersen sustained a calf issue in the warm-up ahead of their game against the Gunners, and Nathan Ferguson is being eased back gradually after a long-term injury.

Southampton - 4

Jan Bednarek has reportedly taken a pain-killing injection to remain with the Poland national team after suffering a rib injury in Southampton's 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday.

Armel Bella-Kotchap was forced to withdraw from the Germany squad with a shoulder injury which he sustained in the Spurs draw. He is waiting on a specialist to determine the extent of the injury, and if he requires surgery, it could sideline him for a number of months.

Juan Larios has not featured for Saints since November, and only returned to training last month after a long-term injury layoff. Tino Livramento has been out since April 2022 with a serious knee injury and suffered a fresh setback in January.

West Ham - 3

David Moyes has suggested that Lukasz Fabianski could be available after the international break. The Polish goalkeeper fractured his cheekbone and eye socket during West Ham's 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest in February.

Fabianski has not featured for the Hammers since, although Moyes says that he is 'hopeful' Fabianski won't be too far away from a return once the players come back from international duty.

Vladimir Coufal has missed the last five games in all competitions with a heel injury, but could return when West Ham host Southampton on April 2.

Michail Antonio was absent for the final two home games with a calf injury which he sustained shortly after scoring twice away against Larnaca.

Moyes didn't specify how long Antonio will be out of action for, and the forward has not been named in Jamaica's latest squad.

Everton - 3

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been out with a hamstring injury since Everton's 1-0 victory over Arsenal in Sean Dyche's opening game in February.

Everton are still 'monitoring' his fitness, with Calvert-Lewin aiming to use the international break to recover from his injury.

Elsewhere, Nathan Patterson has been out since January with a knee ligament injury but has starred twice for the under-21s in recent weeks.

Andros Townsend is expected to be missing until May, with the winger still yet to play a single minute this season due to a long-term knee injury.

Bournemouth - 3

Illia Zabarnyi (ankle) and Marcus Tavernier (hamstring) are set to return to action immediately after the international break. Gary O'Neil confirmed ahead the Aston Villa defeat that he expects the pair to be match fit before the Cherries welcome Fulham to the Vitality Stadium on April 1.

O'Neil also claimed that Junior Stanislas was poised for an imminent return in the start of March, but the 33-year-old is still yet to feature since being sidelined in November.
