Leeds United pursuing 'several targets' as their search for a striker continues

Leeds United have ‘several’ targets in mind as they continue their hunt for a striker this summer. The Whites have been keen to add a forward to their squad for some time and a host of players have been linked with a switch to Elland Road over the transfer window so far.

A deal for Charles De Ketelaere looks unlikely at this stage, but the club have also been linked with the likes of Arnaud Kalimuendo of PSG and New York City’s Valentin Castellanos over what has been a busy summer for Leeds. With six signings already in the bag, Marsch has every right to be delighted with his side’s business so far.

Holes in the middle of the park have been filled, while replacements for both Kalvin Phillips and the outgoing Raphinha have also been secured. However, Marsch believes the club are just one man shy of having a perfectly rounded squad.

“It's a continued pursuit,” Marsch said when asked about the club’s hunt for a striker. “We're hopeful on several targets and we have our priorities and the conversations have been really good.

“So we definitely are going to find one more striker and I think that'll be important. And then I believe that, with also the consideration at left-back, I feel like once we get a striker we feel like we'll have a really sound, strong group.”

He added: “In an ideal world would we wanted to lose Kalvin and Raphinha and no, but we also understood the realities of the situation and respected their wishes and dreams. I think we're going to be stronger.

“I believe that from a depth perspective, and even from an understanding of exactly how we want to play I think we're going to be stronger and that will certainly be the goal is to use this to help bring in the right kinds of players to move us forward.”
