Leeds United player ratings as stubborn Leicester City defence denies Raphinha, Jack Harrison and co

Leeds United (4-2-3-1)

1 Illan Meslier

Not a huge amount for him to do after a couple of early nervous moments in his box at the start. Fairly helpless for Harvey Barnes's opener. Distribution wasn't horrendous. 6

15 Stuart Dallas

Barnes gave him a torrid time at points, but Dallas was decent enough going forward and prove an asset on the break. 6

2 Luke Ayling ©

A surprise to see him in central defence again. Didn’t really give Jamie Vardy much of a sniff, but still looks so much more comfortable when he’s driving down the right. Doesn’t quite have the stature to assert himself in the middle, but some very good defending at times. 7

21 Pascal Struijk

Recovered from his early yellow card to keep Vardy’s nose clean. 6

3 Junior Firpo

Grew into the game and became a real asset going forward. Support Jack Harrison well and applied useful pressure to Leicester City’s attackers, keeping them pinned in at times. 7

5 Robin Koch

Still doesn’t feel like a natural fit in the deep midfield role, but did perfectly well enough here. Recycled possession well and battled strongly with Youri Tielemans. 6

43 Mateusz Klich

Passing was important in tight areas for Leeds and proved an important disrupter whenever the hosts looked to break on the visitors. 7

10 Raphinha

Looking a bit more like himself. Showed flashes of quality which really got Leeds moving forward, but couldn’t find the right composure in the moments that counted. 7

19 Rodrigo

An asset as Leeds built moves with his passing around corners, but fluffed one too many chances when someone of his quality should have done better. 6

22 Jack Harrison

Proved a useful source of key passes down the channel as he got in behind and fired balls across the face of goal. Denied a goal himself by a very good Kasper Schmeichel stop. 7

20 Daniel James

Applied himself and hassled the hosts, but couldn’t do enough to really trouble Leicester where it counted. 6

Substitutes

13 Kristoffer Klaesson

4 Adam Forshaw (on for Klich 69min)

Got about well and recycled possession nicely. 6

9 Patrick Bamford

11 Tyler Roberts (on for Harrison 75min)

Hobbled through the majority of his cameo after a hamstring strain. N/A

30 Joe Gelhardt (on for Rodrigo 63min)

Very bright, as ever. First touch and shot were plain to see in the first few minutes, but faded out as Leicester found control in the latter stages. 6

35 Charlie Cresswell

38 Crysencio Summerville

42 Sam Greenwood

46 Jamie Shackleton
