Leeds United (4-1-4-1)
1 Illan Meslier
Left fairly helpless for the opening three Aston Villa goals. Did make one good save from Tyrone Mings early in the game. Commanded decently on set-pieces. 6
2 Luke Ayling (c)
Got his foot in where he could, even if it did mean Philippe Coutinho made him look stupid a couple of times. A real driving force from deep in the first half especially. 7
14 Diego Llorente
Smashed home the big equaliser at 3-3. Made to look a little cumbersome at close quarters with elite talents like Coutinho, but stood his ground as best he could and didn't concede a huge amount of danger. 7
21 Pascal Struijk
Didn't give Ollie Watkins a sniff all night and then became a menace at set-pieces in the second half. A very good riposte to last season's first-half hooking. 7
15 Stuart Dallas
Another excellent display from Dallas at left-back. Emi Buendia almost entirely marginalised from the match. Dallas was blockbuster when driving from deep too and provided a crucial pair of feet when attacks needed it. 7
5 Robin Koch
Didn't stand out a huge amount in a high-octane match. Questions will be asked about where he was for Coutinho's goal when he had an acre of space in the Leeds box. Didn't quite provide the protection which may have stopped the third home goal. 6
10 Raphinha
One of the poorest nights we have seen from him based on his high standards. Never looked like threatening anything and his errors in the Leeds third almost dug his side a deeper hole at points. 5
19 Rodrigo
One of the best displays we have seen from the Spain international in some time. For Leeds to score three away from home without any discernible impact from Raphinha means someone else had to step up. Rodrigo mitigated his friend's anonymity and proved to be all-action. He popped up everywhere as an option and then laid on killer passes across the pitch. Never stopped hassling and harrying the Villa defence. 8
43 Mateusz Klich
Will cop some flak for Jacob Ramsey's unmarked runs, but this was a good night's work from Klich. Really played his part in that midfield battle all night and came on strong in the second half. Dovetailed nicely with Rodrigo in the final third too. 7
22 Jack Harrison
Quieter evening for Harrison with all of the action coming through the middle, but played his part when he was called upon. Very attentive to Matty Cash's threat from right-back for Villa. 6
20 Daniel James
By far his best performance in attack, just as the pressure was seriously mounting on him as the side's nine. Instinctive finish for his first and then a plucky header he had no right to score at the critical time to breathe life back into the Whites. 8
