Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines on Thursday, 16 June 2022.
Leeds eye PSG forward
Leeds United have submitted a bid of around €20 million for Paris Saint Germain striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, according to the Independent. The Whites are keen on adding a new attacker to their ranks this summer and reportedly earmarked Kalimuendo as their number one target.
The 20-year-old is a top young talent and spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 side Lens, where he scored 12 goals. Given how highly PSG still rate Kalimuendo, negotiations are expected to be ‘complicated’, with the French champions thought to be keen on including a buy back clause in the deal.
Fixtures released
Leeds United will kick-off their 2022-23 campaign with a clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road. The clash is scheduled to take place on Saturday August 6 at 3pm after being overlooked by television broadcasters, whose picks have been revealed for the first Premier League weekend of the season.

The Whites went to Manchester United on the opening day of last season and lost 5-1, they’ll be hoping for a very different result this time around under Jesse Marsch, who will have completed his first pre-season in charge.
Leeds’ start in general looks relatively kind, with a trip to Southampton being the first away trip, before clashes against Chelsea, Brighton, Everton and Brentford to follow. The season will grind to a halt in November for the World Cup, following Leeds’ clash with Tottenham Hotspur in north London.

Liverpool end Raphinha interest
Liverpool are closing in on the signing Aberdeen right back Calvin Ramsay which will reportedly mark the end of their summer transfer business. The Reds are set to beat Leeds United to the signing of the talented 18-year-old, with the Whites instead moving quickly to bring in Rasmus Kristensen after learning of Ramsay’s Anfield preference.
However, perhaps more significantly for Leeds, this is set to end their summer interest in Raphinha, with Liverpool one of several sides to have been linked with him. According to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp’s side will not be making any new additions following confirmation of Ramsay’s arrival.
