A look at the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Tuesday, 18 October.
Leon King advised to reject Premier League switch amid Leeds interest
Former Leeds United shot stopper Paul Robinson has advised young Rangers defender Leon King to turn down a move to the Premier League. A number of clubs in the top flight are reportedly keen on a move for the young centre-half, with Leeds United one of the reportedly interested parties.
Robinson told Football Insider: “For the player, it would be best to stay at Rangers. You have to question whether it would be wise to come into the Premier League at 18 years old.
"Would he be involved in the first team? He would probably play in the under-23s or be loaned out.
“He would be far better off playing for a top quality team like Rangers week in, week out. You will learn more quickly that way. It is better for the player and better for the club. The club will be able to sell you for more in a few years time when you have 50 games behind you.
“Premier League clubs try to sign these young players on the cheap. They try to sign them before they develop into top players.”
Is Bolton Wanderers vs Leeds United U21s being live streamed? Info, ticket details and more
Leeds United's U21s can secure their passage to the next round of the Papa John's Trophy with a win over Bolton Wanderers this evening. The Young Whites currently sit second in Northern Group B after winning their opening match 5-3 away at Tranmere Rovers.
Michael Skubala's side will still have a game to spare after their trip to Lancashire but can move above tonight's opponents with three points. Bolton sit on four points but the clash with Leeds is their final group game having already played both Tranmere Rovers and Crewe Alexandra.
With Leeds' first team also in action at Leicester on Thursday, it remains to be seen whether the likes of Joe Gelhardt and Wilfried Gnonto will be involved again. Here is everything you need to know ahead of the game.
Predicted Leeds United U21s line-up vs Bolton Wanderers as Gelhardt and Greenwood to drop out
Leeds United U21s return to Papa John’s Trophy action this evening as they take on Bolton Wanderers at the University of Bolton Stadium. The Whites saw off League Two Tranmere Rovers in style a fortnight ago and they can give their hopes of progressing from Group B an enormous boost this evening with a result.
However, the Whites are underdogs going into this one and they’ll certainly be challenged by Ian Evatt’s side, who are currently pushing for promotion from League One. Michael Skubala will have a strong side to choose from this evening, but the first-team’s trip to Leicester City on Thursday night may be taken into account when selecting his team.
Sam Greenwood is suspended following his red card at Prenton Park, while Harvey Sutcliffe will not be involved, either, after rupturing his ACL in the 1-0 win over Sunderland last week. As such, Skubala will make changes this evening, but he'll also be keen to see his unbeaten side tested once more this week.
Jonathan Woodgate warns Leeds United to 'kick on' in order to avoid relegation battle
Former Leeds United defender Jonathan Woodgate believes the Whites must start climbing the Premier League table if they want to avoid being in another relegation scrap this time around.
Leeds fell to another defeat on Sunday afternoon, losing to Arsenal 1-0 in what was a spirited display from Jesse Marsch's side.
The result means Leeds have not won a game in the Premier League since their win 3-0 over Chelsea in late August. Performances have been promising of late, and Leeds will certainly feel aggrieved to have not picked up more points from their recent fixtures.
