Leeds United news as Whites reportedly close in on addition to Jesse Marsch's backroom staff

Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines on Tuesday, 1 November 2022.

Paco Gallardo

Leeds United are reportedly set to add Paco Gallardo to Jesse Marsch's coaching staff, according to Mucho Deporte. They claim that Gallardo is set to come and provide the link between the U21s and first team, helping young players take that final step from youth to senior football.

Sporting director Victor Orta is said to be the man who put the call into Gallardo, with Marsch hinting last week that the club were looking at bringing in new staff. The 42-year-old has been out of a job for around 12 months, with his most recent role coming as Sevilla's reserve team manager.

Forshaw future

Leeds United are willing to listen to offers for Adam Forshaw in January, according to a report from Football Insider. His contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and according to the report, it appears unlikely that Leeds will activate the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.

The 31-year-old has amassed just 127 minutes of action across all competitions for the Whites this term, and has been sidelined for the last six games with a twisted ankle, while also undergoing successful surgery on a hernia problem last month.

Kane & Bentancur

Tottenham Hotspur duo Rodrigo Bentancur and Harry Kane are just one booking away from receiving a suspension as the visit of Leeds United looms. Both players have totted up four yellow cards this season and will need to escape a fifth booking when Liverpool travel to North London this weekend.

Leeds head to Tottenham on November 12 before the Premier League pauses for six weeks for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar as they look to keep ahead of the bottom three for the season's suspension.

Spurs face Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in the EFL Cup before their meeting with the Whites, but Bentancur and Kane won't be affected as bookings are competition specific in the League Cup.
