Brannigan hasn't yet made his senior debut for Linfield but is capped by Northern Ireland at U16 level. He is expected to leave Linfield in the imminent future with Nixon claiming that the midfielder is on trial at Man City.
Nixon wrote: "Manchester City are trying to win the race for Northern Ireland midfield prospect Cole Brannigan.
"City have had the Linfield teenager in on trial as they close on a deal ahead of three major Premier League rivals. Chelsea have been trying for Brannigan who has also got Leeds and Liverpool on his tail."
Adam Forshaw gives assessment on Whites season so far
Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw has given his thoughts on how the 2022/23 Premier League campaign has started for the Whites.
Leeds have made a good start to the season having taken eight points from their first six games but could be set to slide down the Premier League table after suffering back-to-back postponements related to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Forshaw arrived at Elland Road from Middlesbrough in 2018 under Danish manager Thomas Christiansen and has made three substitute appearances so far this season, including 29 minutes in the 3-0 win against Chelsea.
Leeds United set for tough October Premier League test following quiet September
When Leeds United lost 5-2 to Brentford away at the start of September, they did not know it would be their last competitive game of the month.
The Whites had their following two games against Nottingham Forest and Manchester United postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Those postponements mean Leeds' next domestic game will take place nearly a month after their clash with Brentford when they host Aston Villa on October 2.
