Here are the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Thursday, 1 September.
Gakpo race
Leeds United are set to miss out on the signing of PSV Eindhoven attacker Cody Gakpo after failing to agree a deal, according to the Athletic. They claim Victor Orta was in Eindhoven last night but has returned to Leeds after both Southampton and the Whites saw bids knocked back.
Leeds have been kicked into action over the last couple of days following the dislocated shoulder injury Rodrigo picked up on Tuesday. Gakpo scored a hattrick for PSV last night despite the speculation on his future and the Dutch side are now looking to tie him to a new deal.

Orta on Leeds
Leeds United director of football Victor Orta has expressed his passion for the Yorkshire club, labelling it as a 'special club' and admitting that he's 'really lucky to work in such a beautiful club.'
Speaking to Norwegian TV outlet Viaplay Fotbal ahead of Tuesday evening's 1-1 draw with Everton, Orta said: "For me, it’s teamwork [getting Leeds back to the Premier League].
"To be honest, it’s really easy because when things are going well it’s teamwork and when things are going bad, I’m guilty but this is a part of being the director of football. You have to suffer. I only suffer because Leeds is special. I am really lucky to work in such a beautiful club.
"For me, it’s a massive club with a lot of passion. I love this team for the passion. I put the best for myself and my team to try to get the best for a historic club. We are waking up."
