Here are the latest Leeds United morning headlines on Friday, May 12.
Marcelo Bielsa 'agreement reached' on Uruguay job
Former Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa looks to be finally on the verge of becoming Uruguay national team boss as he looks to take on his first job since leaving Elland Road in February 2022.
Jorge Casales, who is part of the executive committee of the Uruguayan football association has told the Associated Press that the 67-year-old is set to put pen to paper on a deal that will take him through the 2026 World Cup.

'The only thing missing is the signature,' Casales said following a protracted period of negotiations that have taken place over the past three months. 'We are bringing in someone who we know will leave us a legacy that goes beyond the 90 minutes of a match,' he added.
This news comes following a flurry of unsubstantiated social media rumours linking Bielsa with an unlikely return to Leeds United over the past few days, speculation that is now set to be put to bed.
Uruguay's next matches are a friendly double-header against Nicaragua and Cuba, before the South American World Cup qualifying campaign begins in September.
Adam Forshaw on Ayling-Roca fight and Leeds United career on the line
Perspective is needed when you drop to second-bottom in the Premier League with three games to go. Perspective is needed when Everton score 62 per cent of their entire season’s away goal tally in one match.
Adam Forshaw, 31 and playing, in his words, with his career on the line feels he has that. The Leeds United midfielder remains confident he and his team–mates are fighting for everything in the trenches with real confidence they can get out of this mess.
Monday was one of those days you’re left refusing to look at the league table for fear of how bad the damage really is. Leicester City held up their side of the bargain with a hammering at Fulham, but the Toffees and Nottingham Forest piled the pressure on.

Allardyce straight-talking hits Leeds United noise and '50 per cent safe' view
Don’t lose, absolutely do not concede first and try to keep your heads above water until Tottenham Hotspur visit. Sam Allardyce has cut through the speculation and algorithms with the clearest do-or-die verdict on how Leeds United stay in the Premier League.
The Whites are second from bottom in the table and two points from safety with nine still to play for against the league’s third, 15th and sixth-placed clubs. With more than 90 per cent of the season behind them, Leeds cannot wait much longer to start picking up the points which save them from relegation.
Saturday’s clash with Newcastle United may represent the sternest of the three tests remaining, but Allardyce sees little margin for error. With Elland Road at their backs and an uninterrupted week behind them, avoiding defeat is essential.
