Here are your Leeds United evening headlines for Monday, July 18.
Shackleton set for Millwall medical
Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton is expected to undergo a medical at Millwall tomorrow, according to londonnewsonline.co.uk, with the 22-year-old set to join the Championship side on a season-long loan deal.
Shackleton will become the second Leeds player to join Millwall on loan this summer, after young defender Charlie Cresswell made the switch to the capital earlier in the window. Shackleton has made 79 appearances for Leeds, featuring in 14 Premier League games last term.
The Leeds-born player signed a four-year contract extension with the Whites in August 2020.
Harrison clause emerges
Leeds United would lose nearly £5 million from the sale of Jack Harrison if Newcastle United meet his £35 million valuation, according to the Mirror, after it emerged a portion of the profits would go to Manchester City.
City included a sell-on clause in the deal, entitling them to 20% of the profits made from any future sale. Newcastle are interested in Harrison, with Eddie Howe an admirer of the player's versatility. Leeds signed Harrison from Manchester City last summer for £11 million after spending three seasons on loan at Elland Road.
If Newcastle were to meet the £35 million valuation put on Harrison, Leeds would have to forward £4.8 million from the £24 million profit made on the player to the Premier League champions.
Marsch makes Aaronson prediction
Jesse Marsch is tipping new signing Brenden Aaronson to play a key role for Leeds United this season. Aaronson produced a lively display in the Whites' pre-season defeat against Premier League rivals Aston Villa on Sunday morning.
Marsch worked with Aaronson at Red Bull Salzburg, and the Leeds head coach has admitted that he did have doubts before the 21-year-old convinced him of his true ability.
"When he first came to Salzburg, the first training session, I thought; 'he's in over his head here,'" said Marsch.
"Within two weeks, he was almost our best player and that's the quality he has. Because of his intelligence, because of his desire, because of his hard work, he's able to apply his talents rather quickly and adapt and grow.
"I think he's going to be an important player for us this year. I think for the first match against Premier League talent, I thought he had a good performance."
