USA midfielder Tyler Adams praised for performance against Wales
Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams has been praised by ESPN's Craig Burley for his energetic display against Wales in the USA's World Cup opener on Monday night.
Adams, who was recently appointed the USA's captain for the tournament, played all 90 minutes in their 1-1 draw against Wales.
Late on in the contest, USA keeper Matt Turner came hurtling out of his area to clear a ball, which ended up falling to Gareth Bale around the halfway line.
The Welsh forward looked like he was about to pull the trigger from distance, but was eventually fouled cynically by Kellyn Acosta.
Adams was also on hand to take one for the team should Bale avoid Acosta's challenge, something which Burley feels "epitomised" the Whites midfielder's performance.
"[Weston] McKennie was worrying me with his challenges,” said Burley.
"Tyler Adams got sent off against Tottenham for something similar. I thought he was terrific. He positions himself really well. Gets in and toe-pokes one away.
"The booking, at the end on Gareth Bale, wasn’t Tyler Adams’ booking, but he was there to make a challenge anyway. That just epitomised his performance."
Brazilian legend Silva claims ex-Leeds man will 'do a good job' after Barcelona struggles
Former Arsenal and Brazil midfielder Gilberto Silva has said that former Leeds United winger Raphinha will 'do a good job' at Barcelona despite his early struggles after leaving Elland Road.
Earlier this season, Raphinha was labelled 'the worst' player on the pitch by two separate Italian outlets after his performance for the Spanish giants against Inter Milan in the Champions League - a competition Barca would eventually be knocked out of in the group stage.
"He is a good player," said Silva.
"Now he is in a big team like Barcelona that is different from Leeds, who are also important in England."
Cooper training alongside Newcastle and Rangers quartet in World Cup break
Leeds United captain Liam Cooper was pictured being put through his paces in Dubai.
The Whites defender trained alongside Newcastle United duo Jacob Murphy and Paul Dummett.
The trio were also joined by Rangers duo Ryan Jack and Alex Lowry as they worked on their fitness during the winter break.
