Rio makes Phillips claim
Rio Ferdinand believes West Ham must keep Declan Rice if they wish to have any chance of signing Kalvin Phillips.
Reports suggested the Hammers failed in a surprising last-ditch attempt to sign the Whites midfielder for around £50million last month.
The former Leeds and Hammers defender has told the London side to forget about buying Phillips if they sell his England teammate.
“I think their biggest thing in this next window is keeping Declan Rice,” he said on his YouTube channel.
“If they keep Declan Rice, I think they’ll have an opportunity to bring others into the club.
“But if he goes, it’s going to be difficult to convince the likes of Raphinha or Kalvin Phillips to come to West Ham.”
Whites duo in Team of the Month
Stuart Dallas and Jack Harrison have made WhoScored.com’s Premier League Team of the Month for January.
The Whites won twice last month to move six points clear of the drop zone, with Harrison bagging a hat-trick in the 3-2 win at West Ham.
A defeat to Newcastle means Marcelo Bielsa’s side will still be looking over their shoulder as they look to secure top-flight survival in the second half of the campaign.
Leeds fans back Gelhardt
Leeds fans want to see Joe Gelhardt lead the line against Aston Villa tonight.
Star striker Patrick Bamford is still ruled out with a foot injury, giving Marcelo Bielsa a selection headache ahead of the trip to Villa Park.
Winger Dan James led the line last time out against Newcastle but Leeds looked toothless as they failed to test a leaky Magpies backline.
LeedsLive readers believe Gelhardt should be given a chance up front against Steven Gerrard’s resurgent Villa side.
