Leeds United news as potential investor makes history amid 49ers takeover development

Here are the latest morning Leeds United on Friday, June 16.

Potential Whites' investor makes history at the U.S. Open

Ricky Fowler is a familiar name in the sporting world, but perhaps not the first person you'd think of in the context of the Leeds takeover. The golf star is part of a trio of players on the PGA Tour to have a stake in the buy-out via their involvement in 49ers Enterprises.

Leeds have an ally on the course in the shape of legendary caddy and proud Whites fan Billy Foster, who is though to be in the ear of Fowler as well as past major champions Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas.

Fowler is currently busy competing in the U.S. Open, and carded a stunning 62 for his first round on Thursday, equalling the record-lowest score in any round of a men's golfing major. Hopefully he can bring some of that game to Elland Road next season.

Wober glad for the distraction of Austria duty

Defender Maximilian Wober is one of a number of Leeds United players to have jetted off on international duty this weel, and the Austrian has admitted his relief at escaping the toil of the Whites’ relegation battle.

"Everything feels more free. It's good for me that I can concentrate on other things again,” Wober told Kicker on Thursday after joining up with his international teammates."We just didn't manage to win the important games [at Leeds]. Everything was tense in a way."

The 25-year-old is set to add to his 14 caps when Austria take on Belgium on Saturday before facing Sweden the following week, both in UEFA European Championship qualifiers.

Serie A sides learn Willy Gnonto pricetag

Clubs wanting to prise Willy Gnonto away from Leeds United this summer will have to pay a hefty fee for the Italian forward.

Reports in Italy say both AC Milan and Fiorentina have been quoted a price when enquiring about the 19-year-old's availability following the Whites' relegation to the Championship. Gnonto only arrived at Elland Road on transfer deadline day in September of last year, making a late move from Swiss side FC Zurich.
