Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines on Tuesday, 5 July.
Merson details Phillips task
Paul Merson believes that consistency will be the key behind Kalvin Phillips being a success at Manchester City. Phillips completed his move from Leeds Unites on Monday, putting pen to paper on a six-year deal.
The 26-year-old will face stiff competition from the likes of Rodri and Ilkay Gundogan for a space in City’s midfield after establishing himself as one of Leeds’ most important players. Speaking on Sky Sports, Merson claimed that when Phillips does get the opportunity to play he must be at the top of his game to avoid spending several weeks sat on the bench.
He said: “I don’t know (if he’ll go straight in) he’ll play a lot of games. Man City play a lot of football matches, they play in every competition, they go deep in every competition.

“So it’ll depend how they setup, Rodri will definitely play he’s a big player for Man City then it’ll go from there. We seen before at Man City, you’ve got to get in the team and stay in the team, there’s so many top quality players that one or two bad games you’ll be out the team and that’s the way it flips between playing for a top team like Man City and, no disrespect but, to Leeds.
“If Phillips has three or four bad games (for Leeds) he’s definitely playing the following Saturday. That’s what he’ll have to get used to at Man City, he’ll have to be consistent week in week out or you’ll be straight out that football team.”
Adams 'has said goodbye'
RB Leigzig boss Domenico Tedesco is reported as saying that Tyler Adams has said his goodbyes to his teammates, amid claims that the midfielder will fly to the UK for his medical on Tuesday.
"He said goodbye to the team on Monday. The topic is finished,” Tedesco said, as per RB Live. “He was very liked here; he is a really good player and fine character, the farewell hurts.
“If a player is unhappy with his playing time, we have an extremely large number of players in the centre, then you have to understand him and fulfil his wish.”

Sinisterra-Diaz comparison
News broke on Monday morning that Leeds United were close to a deal for Luis Sinisterra of Feyenoord. The 23-year-old winger starred for the Rotterdam side in the Eredivsie, as well as top scoring in the UEFA Conference League as Feyenoord reached the final, before losing 1-0 to Jose Mourinho's Roma.
The Whites hope to conclude the deal quickly in order for the Colombian to join Jesse Marsch' s side ahead of their pre-season tour to Australia and is set to cost in the region of around £20million, which could really be seen as a bargain if the comparison the player has made himself is anything to go by.
That's due to the fact that Sinisterra has likened himself to his compatriot and £42million Liverpool signing, Luis Diaz. The Feyenoord winger said: “We have many conditions in common, we are both players who like to dare, we like one-on-one, we have goals and obviously we have a very good relationship in the national team."
