Corberan
Former Leeds United assistant Carlos Corberan has officially been confirmed as West Bromwich Albion's new manager. Corberan's arrival at the Hawthorns was announced late last night and he is set to take charge of his first game against Sheffield United on Saturday.
The 39-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a two-and-a-half-year-deal with the Baggies and replaces Steve Bruce in the dugout after leaving them in the bottom three in the Championship. West Brom will represent Corberan's third job in management since leaving Leeds in 2020 following spells at Huddersfield Town and Olympiacos.
Marsch
Eight consecutive wins may have eluded Leeds United and Jesse Marsch, but the head coach feels there is much more to this run than the bottom line. Marsch may have tried and failed to find the winning formula for nearly two months, but he believes their matches have been in the balance and decided on fine margins.

While the draws with Everton and Aston Villa would have been tipped by one goal, the losses have been narrow save for the Brentford and Leicester City trips. Asked if he felt he still had the ideas to turn around this nosedive, Marsch backed what the team was showing on the field and the promise it showed in remaining competitive through this tough run.
“If we were getting killed in matches, and clearly the team that was worse, we would have more worry the direction of what we're doing is not good enough,” he said. “It's not like that."

Gelhardt
One of the reasons Angus Kinnear cited not to bring in a new first team striker during the summer was to avoid blocking Joe Gelhardt's pathway. Gelhardt started three of Leeds United's last four matches at the backend of last season and played a key role in securing survival with a moment of individual brilliance to setup Pascal Struijk's stoppage time equaliser against Brighton.
But this term, Gelhardt's progression into the first team seems to have gone two steps backwards with just 152 minutes of Premier League football. Granted, the 20-year-old was not at his best in his Carabao Cup start against Barnsley in August, but he has simply not been allowed to build a consistent number of match minutes.
He was even left out of the squad completely for Leeds' 0-0 draw with Aston Villa earlier this month. That could, perhaps, be excused if those deemed ahead of him in the pecking order were at the top of their game.
